Thanks for the comments and the improved fish_indent patch. It seems to work well here. It is a big improvement even if it is not perfect.
I just hit a minor problem with the funcsave function. It fails when you give it a -h parameter because it is looking for the save_function man page. A global s/save_function/funcsave/ in funcsave.fish should straighten things out. I've also made a funcvim function editor that uses gvim when in X and vim when X is not available. I plan to make it a bit more general purpose ala the help.fish function that picks the appropriate browser. I'd use lists of graphical and non-graphical editors. I'd probably call it funcedit then. In addition, I'm planning to fix help.fish. Right now if $BROWSER is set then that browser is used even if you are in a non-graphical environment. My fix will check to see if $BROWSER is in the list of graphical browsers, if so, and if you are not in a graphical environment then it will pick from the list of non-graphical browsers.
