These are the immediate downsides to using Ada that pops to my mind: 1. Not many people that I know of know Ada, imo Fish has a hard time as it is to get contributors. 2. Fish would need a total rewrite to be in Ada.
While I don't have many opinions about Ada as I dont know it I think that these two reasons alone are good enough to dismiss the idea.
