Just wanted to clarify FIXatdl internal WG version numbers vs. public version number & current status. The following are highlights of the WG internal versioning numbers and how they related to the public release version numbers. The most current internal WG version as of today is 2.4.9 Current files are always available to FIX members and any non member free upon request. Only major milestone versions are posted and publicized. Groups working with the files are encouraged to check in at least occasionally with the weekly FIXatdl technical meetings (Wed at Noon ET). 1.8 (Apr 07) Based on intensive prior work, including pouring over in-depth transcribed interviews with 5 major OMS players, and eight single-person personal desktop drafts, the first WG schema is "birthed" and distributed to the WG members under this 1.8 version number. 2.1 (Apr 07) Based on three small rounds of minor changes (1.8, 1.9, 2.0) numbering quickly climbs into the two range. Did not signify a major change, only incremental. 2.2.1 (May 07) WG wises up that there will be many rounds of increments, decides to add the hundredth's field to show small incremental changes. 2.2.7 (Jun 07) Work progress to the point where a large group of BD's publish XML samples under this version for OMS community to test with. quite a few 2.x.x incremental versions cumulating in major change. (Juy 07 - Jan 08) - WG works intensively with a wide group of OMS vendors to see if the standard meets their needs using the above XML file samples. Fidessa/Latent Zero, CRD and others give an intense amount of detailed feedback. Numerous changes are made. Numerous features are added. 2.4.2 (Jan 08) Submitted to GTC for final approval. Was approved as FIXatdl v1.0 in late March. 2.4.7 (June 08) WG announces this as public FIXatdl v1.1 Release Candidate 1 (not GTC approved) feature frozen, close to final. (minor changes plus one major feature enhancement is added based on a key FIX technical member's input, received after public v1.0 had been formally approved. WG also had some extensions into the multi asset / list type trading area that were "tricky".) 2.4.9+ (today, ongoing) WG working with ML and LB on running up production level strategies in the latest version. During this process a few minor changes are found necessary to run up all the actual production level strategies. These xml files are now final. Ongoing - working with broker dealers to update and expand out their XML files to the most current version. When this process is nearly complete (and further change is not anticipated to implement all standing BD algo strategies in final form) whatever that version is, will be submitted to GTC for final approval. Also ongoing - very preliminary conceptual/theoretical level work on a public FIXatdl "version 2." This is not designed to hit the markets for 18-24 months out into the future, at a minimum. This work is therefore highly preliminary. There are however some areas that are being identified. One of the most difficult aspect of this effort is aligning with other emerging technical standards trends (including advanced rules processing technologies), xml and related technologies advancements, Internet, web services, and other forward looking financial standard setting groups, etc. None of these are sufficiently "gelled up" at this point to provide concrete near-term direction.
