Dophin - as an engineer, I can recommend "Algorithmic Trading and DMA: An
introduction to direct access trading strategies" by Barry Johnson
(http://www.amazon.com/Algorithmic-Trading-DMA-introduction-strategies/dp/0956399207)
 - it has a good primer on all the major mainstream strategies.

Steve.
