Hi Viv,

This is something that is getting some though in Europe at the moment with 
regard to a consolidated tape.

Personally, I think that there should be (as a short term fix) two ISO MICs - 
lit and dark.  Maybe at some point in the future a hierarchical data structure 
could be introduced or even a 

Andrew Bowley over at Nomura would be a good chap for you to have a discussion
