This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] last friday-sunday fjords populated the minnesota horse expo. we were quite well represented, having close to 15 fjords, though i never got a really accurate count. participants included linda and ann lottie with sven and lena, kristen and anna lee with kristin's new 3-year-old gelding, jaeger, the lustys with marla, linda syverson-kerr and jessica brought marcus and linda's filly (whose name i just forgot), phil odden was there with smedsmoe graen (whose name gave the annoucer fits at every demo), heike lewandowski brought her stallion thor, gudnechts brought 4 of their horses, kit rogers and family brought lea and flick, and gave wagon rides as they have for years. lending a hand was john-you-know-jim-as-dolly-parton (whose last name i apologize for forgetting). also hi to deann.
the fjords, as usual, enthralled the crowds. each day there was a parade of breeds, a one minute circle of the coliseum arena, followed later in the day by time for a 5-10 minute demonstration. at the demos we had 3 carts, a wagon, the filly in-hand, heike was showing dressage, linda and marcus carried the flag and rode western, anne lottie and kristen lee rode english. for the first time out, kristen's horse did a fine job. heike ponied him the first demo, but by the time the saturday afternoon demo rolled around, kristen was riding him and he was calming down, even with very large crowds. and all the drivers seemed to have very quiet drives. all of them did a great job of showing the versatility of our breed, plus their great dispositions. and outside, they always drew a crowd, more so than almost any other breed. and what great examples of the breed, especially linda's sven (still my all time favorite, first fjord i met). he was very gentle with all the horse-loving young girls who wanted to feel his mane. it's quite a tiring event, but certainly presents a great opportunity for people to learn about the fjords, and we seemed to even have several serious buyers looking for their own. laurie, and oz who stayed home mowing the pasture. and getting into hock-high mud (that pasture is now closed until it dries off a little)
