This message is from: "jgayle" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Warren, I volunteered for a therapy group and enjoyed it very much. We used regular saddles and tested, quiet mounts. The stirrups were escape types. There were also two "side walkers' to help prop up the children, often also a back rider and of course a person who led the horse. We learned what to do in an emergency and invariably they do occur. One lady brought her mount who was a barrel racer and the horse passed their exam. However, and believe me several of us were very doubtful when the Dad got behind the saddle and his totally helpless youngster was handed up and put in the saddle. The Dad automatically clamped his legs around the horse and it took off full speed dumping the man and luckily the boy landed on top of him.. Dad hit the ground hard and was lucky not to have injured himself. Believe it or not they kept the horse and just warned people not to clamp their legs or shout, "Yee hah!" Jean G.
