personally I like Timothy and Brome grass hay mix. However my field was
already planted in Alfalfa in "88" and it is slowly thinning out so that I
am overseeding with the previous mix. I prefer the grass since it drys out
much nicer for bailing and the horses (unless pregnant or lactating) don't
need all the extra calories of the alfalfa.

When it gets really cold here I do have a little alfala around for the extra
calories needed to keep warm but is isn't necessary it just for my mind.
