This message is from: "Karen McCarthy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi folks,
Here is a link for anyone who is interested in what the Hayfork, Ca. CDE was like...Besides amazing scenery, there were some pretty cool horses entered! Red mules, Canadiens, Friesans, Welsh & more Welsh, Haffies and several warmblood breeds. There was even a BLM mustang, who looked like a black Percheron who accidentally made it into the dryer & shrunk...very, very cute and 'typey'. You can view our photos in the Training Pony Pair section - also check out Pat & Dave Shumaker's Arnie pics in the Training Sgl. Pony division. He looks awesome! Frannie did a heck of a job driving him, really wowed a couple of the judges. Arnie is a Sven son out of a Gromar daughter. Quite a solid mover. Pat & Dave own the Trinity Driving Center where the event is held. It was my first "real" outing (ADS rec'g CDE) with my "girls", a pair of homebred mares, Sven daughters Idelle & Alycia. Relax Brian, we're no threat yet in the Dressage Dept. yet, (57% 3 judge average) but we're are solid everywhere else, and getting better, doing our homework while the carriage is off for repairs, driving single & working under saddle. I have my Riffel wagonette in at Kurt Barne's in nearby Fallon for repairs before our next CDE in Aug. Replacing some warped wood panels, tightening the wheel bolts, a crab for the pole and BRAKES! New, flexible line ones...like Jerry Friz (THank You!) and his friend Gary suggested I install. No more konking out in the 1st part of a hilly marathon and going brakeless for me! Also, I was kinda thinking of re-powder coating the metal work black, but now I don't think so. In viewing the pics, that funky plum maroon is growing on me! If there are any turnout fashionistas out there who care to comment, what do ya'll think of a red jacket w/ the maroon paint on the vehicle? I like it, but maybe I am getting slightly odd as I creep onwards in age ;-|) Maybe the Red Hat Society is next?! Anyone remember the Rajaneeshies?? That's what my sister said I should explain to the next presentation judge... Anyway, have fun looking - it's free, no video to buy :-)) I am going to order a couple of pics from Christie as presents for my sis who was my most excellent groom this time out. Poor Cinny, I need to make it up to her, as when she tried talking to me as I drove the pair down the center line at the start of our dressage test, (asking me if she should salute the judge too) I had to utter a panicked "shut-up" to her in my best ventreroiquist (sp) voice. Oh my! Here's the Link to Chrities photos of the Hayfork CDE: www.searchchristies.biz/HFwlm04.html <<Note to Gail R. if you read this post in a cyber cafe somewhere in Austria while the coach horses are blowing outside during a carriage break: please know that I am the greenest thing in Nevada right now! Hope you and Jim are having a blast Coaching in Bavaria!! & thanks for the CD. Got it Monday.>> nite all.
