It looks like I am going to have to miss our Fjord club's seminar
in showmanship. I wonder if anyone here has some of the rules? I looked
at the evaluation rules on the NFHR's site, and in that the horse can be
wearing a halter or bridle, stands square, and there is a diagram of a
40+foot walking triangle and a 60+foot trotting triangle, going to the
right. Is that pattern variable depending on the judge? Could the handler
wear neat clothes that are not necessarily Western or English riding
attire?
The horse we are showing is a 3 year old mare. I have shown dogs
before and have the general jist of making the animal look alert and not
getting inbetween the judge and the animal, moving on a loose leash, but
otherwise I don't have a clue.
