I think "feel" can be taught. We have all seen someone who jerks the reins
to stop and kicks to go, and agree they lack "feel" You can have that same
person watch a horse for 5 minutes and not see anything. Then someone else
watching the horse in the same 5 minutes can see volumes of body language
answers. As we become more aware of the horse responding to our body
language, and we can develope an answer to theirs in return. We can learn
to influence their behavior by learning about their responses. We are
developing "feel", learning it from the horse. Not everyone is going to
take the time it takes to notice the horses response, they don't progress
and their horses are dull, bracey, etc.
