I started four horses to saddle for a client, of which three had been driven
prior to coming to me. Two of the pre-drivens started under saddle like
butter on hot bread. I could not have asked for more willing, trusting good
minded horses. The 3rd did not do as well - but as I went back to ground
driving I found he didn't do well in that venue either. All three were
differently bred and different in personalities. Take each horse as an
individual, some take to driving and think riding is for their distant
cousins, others make great riding and freak in front of a cart. The only
concern I would have if the horse was driven only as a pair -  they might
show a few signs of insecurity, like lack of attention, bolting, clinging to
the trees......
