For several years, I had the honor of owning the oldest NFHR-
registered Fjord.  Nansy lived to be 32; I'm told that her mother
(Skade) made 34.  It's not uncommon for Fjords to reach their mid to
late 20's.

Nansy had various forms of arthritis most of the time that I owned
her.  She eventually developed Equine Cushings (she had long had a
"thyroid problem", which might actually have been precursors to
Cushings).  Between stiff joints from her arthritis and muscle wasting
from Cushings, she eventually got to the point that, when she laid
down, she couldn't get back up without help.  When her attitude
changed to "Oh, why bother", we regretfully called the vet for that
"final appointment".
