Hello Everybody from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia -
Just before we left for our Christmas vacation in New England, there was a
discussion on the Carriage Driving List talking about 'the most suitable
breeds for driving'. There was a lot of discussion about movement. --- Of
course, I couldn't help but share my opinions about Fjords.
The next day the following post was sent to the CD-L from one of our
customers , Cheryl Skigin in California. . . . . .
"Could not resist after seeing the Rivoires' note. The wonderful Sunflower
who is well-known in the West with the boy she owns - Alexander - is a
Beaver Dam Fjord. Fjords are lovely and Sunflower is a gem of gems. We
give full credit to Beaver Dam Farm and Carol and Arthur who did not merely
sell us a Fjord, but found the Fjord that was, indeed, perfect for us. If
anyone thinks that Fjords do not have "the movement" you ought to look at
Beaver Dam's stock. They have Fjords that move with such lightness and
elegance it is hard not to hold your breath in awe. I don't know that I
will ever be able to thank them enough for the pleasure, joy and performance

. . . . We will always be grateful to you for your wisdom and advice in
directing us not only to a Beaver Dam Fjord but to the one that was indeed
the perfect horse for us. If you ever want an endorsement just let me know.
I love the chance to return a little bit some of the incredible joy you have
given us ---- Alexander says when he grows up he is raising Fjords just
like Sunflower! So, you can't retire until he is ready to start breeding
and get his starter stock!"

Cheryl's son, Alexander, has competed in Combined Driving with Sunflower all
over the West winning and wowing everyone who has seen them. -- Cheryl
tells me that the two of them are an amazing pair of competitors -- the
horse just as keen as the boy! It's really a great story. We constantly
get reports from competitors out west who have been in competition with
Alexander and Sunflower. Everyone is immensely impressed~
