I took one piece to a guy that does wood bending. He's going to make the wooden part. Then I'll attach all the metal hardware. I found a collar shop that will put on the padding. It looks like it will be another month or so till I have any finished.
If anyone is interested in buying a set, let me know and I'll keep you posted. I'm hoping to keep the cost under $200, but I won't know for sure until I get some completed. I drive my Fjords a lot (between 80 and 100 miles a month) and I'm getting tired of getting messed up manes with my regular collars. I didn't have too much trouble with my gelding, Halnas, but Lona, my mare, has a thick mane that is really messed up because of the collar (and I want to take her to the World Horse Expo in Harrisburg, Pa. in the end of February). Another thing about regular collars, you have to keep close watch on the fit. If it's to big it tends to mess up the mane sooner. But you don't want it too small.
