Bits should fit each horse indvidually and not be a matter of a committee
vote. When I sought info on collars on a different board I got lots of
advice which was mostly useless. I don't care what size their percherons
or belgians take, only what fits my fjords. I was told the horse couldn"t
take a 24" because their heavy drafters didn't. My mare now has a full
sweeney 24" which is an almost perfect fit even though it is still new.

As to bridles I found if I added 2" to the brow band and shortened the
sides 2'' that it was a much better fit. My original size was for draft
horses upto 1400#. This is a work bridle.

Before I redid the bridle it tended to pinch the ears and if she threw her
head or scratched head the bridle would slip forward and over one or both
ears. This is probably due to the extreme crown of the neck right up to
the ears and not having the mane cut down close enough where the top strap
lies.
