This message is from: "carl and sarah" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Our young colt, 10 months old, named Sonny has begun to play with EVERYTHING from his grain pan to a traffic cone and barrel we have given him to entertain himself and us with!!!
We gain so much amusement from just watching him from our porch. He can entertain himself for hours. His latest trick is carrying around branches and small trees in his mouth, like a dog carries a stick, from where we are working on clearing more pasture for the horses. What are some games I can teach him? Can I train him to fetch or retrieve? I would really like to make use of this tendency he has for playing with "things" to help establish the "bond" we are forming with him. We have only had him for about 8 weeks and have really enjoyed getting to know him and he us. I notice our older mare doesn't play at all. She only thinks about the next mealtime, that's what a grain pan is for her!!! Do the mares play?? Or perhaps it's her age showing? Thanks all -- Sarah Nagel in sunny Idaho with June and Sonny :-)
