It's too bad when something like this happens to an otherwise seemingly
good horse. I'm referring to the gelding that has the bucking problem. Has
this horse ever been examined by a vet to see if he might have any physical
problems that are causing his actions? Could his back be out of whack, or
could he have some other structural problem? He doesn't sound like a
genuine "outlaw" horse if he is able to be ridden bareback and handled in
the pasture.

I would have him examined thoroughly by a competent vet before I'd want to
give up on him. If he checks out physically, then maybe he could be sent to
a trainer that specializes in reprogramming problem horses.

To Mike & Casey: FYI our Fjords are trimmed on an eight week basis.
Sometimes less in the winter. Our pastures are reasonably soft and the
horses don't wear down their hooves as they would on harder ground. They
are shod if we do any road work, or off-farm riding. Also, Blue Earth is a
small town in southern Minnesota where the Midwest Fjord Horse Club just
had their evaluation and Fjord Horse show. We are nine hours away(pulling
a horse trailer)and we live in the same state. The very N.E. corner of
Minnesota.

to Steve & Cynthia: Thanks for posting the wonderful pictures of Blue
Earth. That's about the only ones I'll have a chance to see. We didn't
take any pics while we were down there. Too busy waiting hand and foot on
our two horses, or trying to help with things at the show. You did a great
job setting up the page! When are you coming up north to cool off?

Saskia: We wished you were with us at the Dairy Queen. Did you get the
picture of the "Jolly Green Giant"? He stands at the head of the arena
down at Blue Earth and we get to look at his jolly green bums all day long!
That area of Minnesota is all agricultural, growing many vegetables and
grains. I believe the Jolly Green Giant is the symbol for that area.
Green Giant foods is also located in a town called Le Sueur, not too far
from Blue Earth. Its their corporate symbol. How's Flor doing? Did you
hear anything on buying the farm?
