When the vet was out treating another horse Friday evening, I asked her
about Tank's sudden weight gain. Several people had mentioned to me that I
should be concerned about him foundering. She told me to get him out of the
pasture and into a dry lot With the constant rain and rich grass combined
with his gaining weight so quickly, he is indeed in danger. He should stay
in dry lot at least until the grass is less rich and less abundant.
Nebraska weather should accomodate him sometime in the near future (at
least it usually gets pretty hot and the grass becomes less verdant - I
don't try to predict weather anymore).

With all the rain and mud, Tank is temporarily sharing a pen with a llama,
a yearling Arabian colt and a pony. When it drys out a litle, if it ever
does, he will go into another pen where I can control his diet even better.

His KK schooling bit came in Friday. The 5-1/2 was too small and I
exchanged it for a 5-3/4. He seems to like it. My ride was cut short
Saturday, when my Morgan bolted with the 11-year old girl who was riding
him and she fell off. Luckily she was not injured except for a bruise or
two. She got right back on him and I lunged her for a few minutes. I think
a deer fly bit him. She is also learning to drive Tank and doing very well.
She thinks driving is a blast. Megan is very enthusiastic and in turn for
riding and driving lessons, she is our gopher. It is very helpful to have a
gate person and cones setter, etc. handy.

I finally got curious about Tank's breeding lines with all the discussion.
I found that he has Torbjorn in three lines, all in different generations.
I find that pretty interesting.

I hope everyone has a drier week that we expect. Thunderstorms predicted
every through Thursday!
