I've been thinking of going to Equitania. Who's going to be there????? What horses????? Anyone on the list????? What do you all do with horses when you are gone????? How much do you pay people to take care of your horses each day and for what services????? I can't help out with info on babysitting horses as I take mine along <grin>. I will be going to Equitana again this year with my two horses, BDF Lillehammer, a 4 year old, and SF Freya, a 12 year old Fjord. Most of the Fjords will be coming from New England, with Susan Cook, Marcy Baer, and Lindsay Sweeney doing the organizing. I am not certain of what exactly I will be doing, but I will be riding Lilly doing my best attempt at training level dressage. Last year the ring was about the size of a dressage arena, so we sent the horses in as groups, carriage driving, riding/ jumping, side-saddle, bridleless riding demo, draft/ground driving, since we could not fit everything in the ring at the same time. I looked at the Equitana web site last night, and saw that the Norwegian Fjords (NFHR) will have their breed demos this year in a BIG arena, Freedom Hall, around 4:30 pm every day. We are scheduled in there with the Draft demo before us and the Carriage (ADS?) demo after us, and many Fjords participated in both of those demos as well. Last year, Lilly was also part of a daily scheduled "Bomb-Proofing" clinic that the Fjords put on in a small ring among the vendors/exhibits, and I think the planners are hoping for some ring time again this year. And Lilly was also used during the Canadians's demos as she is Canadian-Bred (I shared or alternated those demos with her half brother Jason). My other horse, Freya, was used for side-saddle twice a day, once with the NFHR demo, and once in a side saddle association demo. I was asked if she could be used again this year, but am not sure of all the details yet. (I don't do side-saddle, but apparently Freya did some before I got her). The Equitana web site is http://www.equitanausa.com . Hope I typed it correctly. Anyway, there appears to be a LOT more seminars and stuff going on this year than last. I know I had very little time to watch the seminars I wanted to see around having my horse appearances and manning the NFHR booth a little, so take notes at those great lectures for me, please! And when your feet get tired, please come sit down at the NFHR booth and give some of the other hard workers a break to look around. Sue Banks, Virginia, USA
