Kari, I would be sure to get a seasoned horse, 8 years up, maybe 10 at
least. I am 5' 6 about ( what is happening here? I do not usually talk
about my bulk) well lets just say my doctor says to take off thirty pounds
and I should weigh 160. Big bones of course! My present fjord is 13'2-3.
Would have preferred 14 hands but had waited six months to find one. Fjords
vary but an older one is more experienced and you will have an opportunity
to see if it likes you. Buying by video as I did is a risk as I seem to
remind my boy of a former owner who was not nice to him. After seven months
I finally got a nuzzle, brief but------.

If you buy a baby, with your stated size you should wait until it is four or
five years to ride. Fjords are slow developers (growth--not brains). There
seem to be many mares available and few trained geldings. Range, $2500 up.
Best of luck. Jean
