With the New Zeland fencing I use a 12 volt battery and a Pel charger made
in New Zealand. That baby realy packs a punch. Let me tell you kids, I have
quite a few electro shock therapies as I have several fences I turn off and
on during the day as I move horses from paddocks to pastures and sometimes,
when I am hot and tired, I forget which one is off and which is on. Yes,
that is why I am always grinning like the Cheshire Cat. It sure does make
you bare those pearly whites! I think the voltage on the fence is 7000. The
nice thing about the 12 volt batteries is that they are portable and so are
the chargers if you have your grounding rods set here and there. The Pel
covers about 10 miles of fencing, so they say. Anyway, my two cents worth.
Electricity from the house is not too practical at my place and the solar
batteries don't seem to work worth a darn with Fjords thick forelocks
pressing on them. Sorry to hear about Holunder, my gosh that is a sad
story. I am so panicky about leaving my horses in other people's care, I
never go anywhere. It's just hard to find people that really know what they
are doing with horses, and gosh, there are so MANY things to know. Best,
Misha
