I've always thought our Fjords smelled different than any other horses,
especially when they're very wet or sweaty. I asked my vet once about it
("does this horse smell right?) when she was out on a rainy day, but she
didn't understand what I was talking about. All she smelled was wet horse.
Another thing that I noticed with the Fjords that I've never noticed with
other horses is that during their first 3-9 months or so, the skin of baby
Fjords (some more than others) seems to produce something kind of like
lanolin, or some type of thick, protective oil. Has anyone else noticed that
or do I just have oily horses?
