Dear Brenda, I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Burt. So many things can happen unexpectedly with horses, even when they are receiving the best of care. We had a similar occurrence with a yearling TB cross filly a couple of years ago. We were lucky and, after lots of IV's and immunoglobulin, she managed to pull through. It was heartbreaking to watch that filly fighting for her life. It took her a very long time to recover. It's especially hard to lose a special friend during the holiday season.
