This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi All-
Jack & I have been invited to bring our horses to the Peninsula Christian Center's "Bethlehem AD", an awesome reenactment of the time of Christ's birth. The event is like a fair with everyone dressed in period costumes and acting the parts of shepherds, tax collectors, Roman soldiers, etc. For more info visit www.BethlehemAD.com. There are currently two horses & riders in the event, good friends of ours who play King Herod & Queen ? is it Salome or was that his daughter? Anyway, they are a big hit, but the only problem is despite their costumes, they ride Paint horses in obviously Western tack. For this event we would like to use tack which appears more authentic. We don't want to spend a fortune, but a small investment is OK since we will likely be invited back year after year. My question is, what sort of tack did Roman cavalry use? What modern equivalent can we buy or disguise to look more authentic? I looked up "Roman soldier" on yahoo, etc., but didn't find much info. Any web sites or pictures would be very helpful! Thanks so much, Brigid SF Bay Area, CA
