This message is from: "Sanders" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Jane- My niece Amy, age 8, (Sarah Nagel's adorable kid :)) has a 15" wintec that works great on the fjords. (Dover sells an extra wide tree for the Wintec's) I've used it myself and its comfy and durable. I love it and the average child can even lift it which they can't do with leather. Amy uses the little over the horn stirrups when she rides. I'd recommend a Wintec for your children. They are light and if they get dropped the dust just brushes off.
HELMETS: Two months after Jennie started working for Chip a friend of hers was injured in a riding accident on an unfamiliar Arabian. The horse spooked as she was mounting and drug her quite a distance with one foot in a stirrup. She was kicked multiple times in the head. The hospital trauma team said they had never seem such extensive head injuries in someone still alive. She was in a coma for almost a full year and will always have two plates in her head to replace the shattered bone. Now she is like a 4 year old and must relearn everything in life. No, she was not wearing a helmet. In her case a helmet wouldn't have saved her, but it may possibly have reduced the extent of the damage. Jennie now ALWAYS wears her helmet when she's on a horse. At the spring promo meeting in Spokane someone had information about helmet safety they developed with their 4-H group. Jen brought home brochures for her friends and would like to order the tape someday. She is 17 and has sadly seen what can happen if you value your looks over using common sense. Teresa Sanders In Sandpoint where we are gearing up for the Draft Horse Show. Anyone coming into town for it? Let me know! [EMAIL PROTECTED]
