Hi all - I've heard rumors that we have one very kinky member of our Digest who showers with his/her dog. Before I retired, I often encountered such a problem [a type of fetish] among my clientele. The preferred treatment is in hospital where all showering can be carefully monitored. The patient is slowly weaned from the fetish by being given smaller and smaller dogs to shower with, until he/she can tolerate a shower alone with only a picture of a Chihuahua on the shower wall. There is, sadly, a high relapse rate, and many have to repeat treatment. Support groups for the families of sufferers are very helpful. Twelve-step groups are also useful, and attendance at Weird Showerers Anonymous is mandatory. I hope this information will be of some aid to those sad victims of this addictive behaviour.
