Excuse the emphasis ..at 20 days past her due date, MVF SOLEIA N-14920 (Sire Lurbjorn N -1816, Dam Tyri N-14454, daughter of GRABB N-1651) presented us with our first foal .. a filly .. and a "valley girl" ("up the line" in the Ottawa valley) .. Name not agreed, very sturdy and inquisitive. After finding her waxed up at 1 am, and a day of slogging to get ready for my trip to Africa (friday!) .. I set the alarm for 4, but when it came time to get up, I just couldn't do it .. all those late nights (writing and watching) did me in and I told myself that she was so late that it was sure to be a long time before anything happened. A little furry face was waiting for me when I opened the barn door at 7 am. What a gift! She is adorable. All those birth announcements in the papers thank the doctors, in this case I thank Julie Will who sold me my wonderful Soleia .. and encouraged me over the last year and a half, and continued to advise and support long after the ink was dry on the check. And thanks to Pat Wolfe and Jane -- particularly Jane! .. who at this very moment is on her way over to help me with imprinting our new arrival. And thank you Lori for sharing Fred's Mash recipe with me .. I'm sure it helped too. Gave me something to do all those nights waiting for this. What a super day !!!!
