He tripped and went down and she flew over his head/shoulder and actually broke her neck. She is in a brace, with everything working, apparently, but boy, is THAT sscary! I had an similar fall a couple years ago when my horse stumbled and went down on his nose and I flew over his head, landing on my head and shoulder, feeling the shock all the way down my spinal column. Wearing a helmet, my heavy plastic framed glasses gave me black eyes and I actually broke some cartilage on the top of my nose (it didn't hurt, tho). SOOO Lucky, I realize now, when I think what could have happened. Anyway, I expected to really hurt in my shoulders and back the next day, but took some "Traumeel" (now called "Traumed") tablets, a homeopathic remedy that the dog mushers use on their sled dogs as well as take themselves on the big Iditarod race. I also took ibuprophen. Amazingly I didn't hurt the next day, but had black eyes for a couple of weeks!
