This message is from: "Dagrun Aarsten" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello listers and Janne Myrdal in particular,
today we were putting up new fence and repairing fences at the barn- and a whole section of fence with T-posts was pushed over and needed to be straightened. So when I saw three-four people pulling hard on each fence post while one person hammered it down, I ran off to get a bridle and breastcollar for Tinn (I don't have a draft harness, unfortunately) I attached a long rope to both traces, looped the rope around the top of the fence post to be straightened, and Tinn was happy to pull. Not quite so happy to get dragged away from his breakfast, but he forgave me. He was official superhero at the barn after straightening a good 50 fence posts. It was difficult to get him to pull steadily on a non-moving object, but he soon got it and settled in the routine. When the guys behind us said "OK", he understood by himself that that meant he could back up and release the pressure. He was rewarded with some grain and a big serving of hay just for him, outside the pasture. He was so happy he was ready to burst. I have never seen a horse with such great work ethic. The rest of the day (as we were fencing pasture) he was just hanging out and keeping us company. He loves people, especially when he knows he's been good. The guys said he deserved a beer, so I tried to give him a handful from my bottle but he didn't quite get the point. Now he will be standing eagerly at the gate for the next few days, hoping for more draft work, with a hopeful smile on his face. Quinn got to try pulling a pack of new metal fence posts up the hill across the pasture, so he was pretty proud of himself, too.
