RE: horse bells

A single long strap goes down the backstrap of the harness, from the
hames to just above the crupper fork, or from the gig saddle to just
above the crupper fork. These jingle vigorously with any movement. Some
long straps of bells can be attatched just behind the gig saddle - I have
a set which does, and there are spaces where the lines pass between the
bells, so they don't get caught. There are also some which can fasten
over the rear hip strap - this is typically a fancier turn-out and are
for decoration as well as sound. I also have a double set which fastens
to the breast plate and over the rear hip strap, from tug to tug. They
get fastened on after the harness is applied and adjusted. Look at the
bells and harness sets in the catalog from Meader Supply (catalog is not
online but can be ordered from meadersupply.com) theirs are pretty nice.
