If he is breeding him to a donkey to produce a mule, there might be some offspring. Usually, tho mules are created by breeding a mare(horse) to a donkey jack. The offspring of a stallion and a Jenny (donkey) would be called a Hinny, which is also sterile.
Maybe he is keeping his Fjord stallion happy by keeping him with a molly mule, who, altho sterile, still will have estrus cycles and will be receptive to breeding with a stallion.
