I need to find a new home for my four year old Fjord mare, Sulphur Springs Marta, whom I call "Maya" (Anvil's Steinfinn x Ashwood Matlide). I bought her and her half-sister last year as summer training projects but I have since moved to a smaller property and need to cut down on numbers. She is also a bit more willful than I am skilled to handle (her half-sister is more compliant, so I'm keeping her).

She's had three months of training but they were scattered over the past year. She's been ridden in English and Western tack and has been on trails and hauled to other arenas. She is the kind of horse that really needs to bond to one person. She will test that person at first, to see what the person is made of, but once she gets through that phase she'll do anything for her rider. At least, this is what the trainer who just brought her back told me. I'm sure what matters most is that she find the right match.

She's about 14h, maybe a hair taller, and is medium in build. Wide enough to be stout and comfortable but not drafty. She's very friendly and easy to catch and loves attention, but she can be fidgety when standing tied and pushy if you don't remind her of her manners. She stands well for the farrier and vet and loads well. She also gets along well with my other mares.

I have over $3200 invested in her but am asking $1800 for her so that I can try to find her the right home as soon as possible, given that I'm out of space at my new place. She also needs the right match and would not suit a beginner or a timid rider. She should be suitable for just about anything, like lower level dressage, jumping, driving, trail riding or pleasure riding, or maybe even ranch work. She does seem to do best with regular riding and having a job to do.

See her on my farm web site:

You can reply to the Dreamhorse ad for more info.

She is located in NW Longmont, Colorado, is up to date on shots, hoof care and worming, and is registered with the NFHR.

Thanks,
