I received this from someone at the barn where my future daughter-in-law
rides quite frequently in Kansas. Her hunter/jumper has had some lameness
problems and rehabs here in Michigan and she takes one of our fjords home to
ride (and jump). I love this story and feel it really shows why this breed
of horse is so good for so many people.

Subject: Angie - your darling fjord
Nancy,
We've not met, but I ride at the barn where Sarah and Mike have boarded
Angie and Davin. I had my video camera at one of the hunter shows where
Sarah and Angie were riding, so I am dropping this video clip in the mail to
you so that you can watch her go 'round. I just love your horses and they
are always such a hit everywhere Sarah rides.
Sarah let me cool out Angie one day and I just fell in love with her size
and calm demeanor. I have to share with you my favorite memory of Angie.
Sarah had just finished schooling Angie through the jumps at the Kansas
Expocenter. She was preparing for the hunter show the next day. Even though
it was only October, Angie's coat had grown out sufficiently that she needed
a few walking laps to dry off. I happened to be standing in the arena with
my good friend Su,e watching Angie go around. Sue and I are both adult
riders whose only riding objective is to go out and have a good time. Sue
lost her leg to cancer a year ago and is learning to ride with a very
immobile prosthetic. With Sarah's permission, Sue climbed aboard and walked
and trotted her around a bit. The Kansas Expocenter is full of "scary
objects" that most horses balk at, but Angie is just a dream ! Midway
through Sue's lap, her prosthetic leg falls off, and lands right under
Angie's feet (complete with sock and boot still attached) ! Angie took this
strange event completely in stride. She stopped, looked at it, and then just
kept on walking, as if she's quite accustomed to her rider's body parts
randomly falling off. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy her this
summer.
Have a very Happy New Year !
