My old Bjarne was like this: He had several owners before and was
mistreated by one. Very reserved, even yet. However, I suspect that
this horse you are describing would warm up to you altho it might
take several months. You can't expect him to be in your pocket like
a two year old! If everything else is what you want, then take him
and let him know you will be there for long term and he will come
around! Just spend time with him with no demands, sit and read in
his corral. As for the cribbing, that could be a factor of how he
is kept: alone in a stall? Horses need companionship and space to
move around.
Good luck, let us know what you deciode to do.
Jean in Fairbanks, Alaska, light all night now, sun sets after
midnight for 3 hours, but still is light. 70 degrees.
I am just really struggling with this decision and would appreciate any
advice from long term Fjord owners/breeders or those who own Fjords
that might
fall into a more aloof category or have suffered mistreatment. Feel free to
e-mail me privately if you'd rather.
Thanks in advance,
