In addition to the Metabolic Horse group, a great place for getting information on equine metabolic disorders such as insulin resistance and Cushings is at a Yahoo group. Send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Or you can join from the website: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/EquineCushings/

When you subscribe, you get lots of introductory information such as emergency treatment for a horse that has laminitis, where to get hay tested, what to test for, and much more. It takes a while to get through it all, but it's worth it to be informed and to prevent problems before they happen. Then you will get lots more emails regarding horses with metabolic disorders. Sometimes there is really useful information in these emails. It's easy to unsubscribe at any time.

Dr. Eleanor Kellon is the veterinarian who looks after this site and often offers advice and will take on specific cases at a price.

I have 2 easy keeper horses, a Fjord and a Morgan, that need to be watched. They are both a bit fat and I recently got a grazing muzzle. My Fjord is only 4 but as she gets older I will have to review the insulin resistance information.
