In a clinic I discovered the problem was that I really don't want to jump, and Joe was very definitely reading my intention, not my send. At the risk of sounding a bit too new age, he usually does what I am thinking and not what I think I am telling him!! Once I got that concept, we've done much better with the barrels. Bringing enough energy to the send was also a big issue. When I bring more energy, then our circles are good; I am a pretty low energy person so I had to have an instructor demo bringing my energy up. I still don't like to do it, so guess what - neither do my ponies! And also, he is bored, bored, bored by going around in circles, either on line or in the arena and will usually make it very clear that he'd like something more interesting going on. Della Ree is content to do what she is asked under saddle, but is proving to be more of a problem giving to pressure. It's a lot of fun to have the two personalities!! Kate and Joe and Della
