This message is from: Robin Churchill <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Ooruk (6 year old gelding Orka X Maite)made his dressage debut at first level this month. First we went to a schooling show and he scored 69.7% for a second place with the top score being 70% on First Level Test 1. Then last weekend we went to Wellington which for the non-dressage people is the winter mecca of dressage for the whole U.S. (OK so it is too early in the season for all the Olympians to be there yet, but nevertheless). He placed very well in all three classes with some very tough judges and only minor errors. 69% and second place for first level test 1, 63.4% and again second place for first level test 2 and 66.4% and 3rd place for training level test 3 (the winner of that class was a grand prix rider on a young horse). Almost all of the other horses were warmbloods--there weren't many non-traditional breeds there and the classes each had over 10 horses--so I was thrilled with him. He was certainly a horse of a different color among all the giant bay and black horses and got a lot of attention as the only fjord there. I doubt if the other competitors were happy being bested by a pony but didn't hear anything negative so they were good sports about it. Anyway, he thinks he is a star and now is requesting to be called Sir Ooruk.
