I bought a Shop Vac that hangs on the wall (optional) for about $60.  It is
very light (can get a strap and hang it on your shoulder if you want to) has
an 18 ft hose that is small enough for my hand!  The motor is quiet and with
such a long hose, you can keep the motor and noise a little way from the
horse until he/she gets used to it.  Another real plus is that it is bagless
- check the price of the vacuum and then the bags for the horse vacuums -
youch!  It really works and my horses love it, even the most skittish  (not
a Fjord!) was ok with it within 30 seconds.
