This message is from: "Gail Russell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I just found this little mention in a story about Big Brown's bloodtests.
"Big Brown was pulled up by jockey Kent Desormeaux early in the stretch in the Belmont. So far Dutrow has not come up with a physical reason for the performance. Photographs have indicated that Big Brown was running with a dislodged shoe on his right hind foot throughout most of the race." I presume that a loose shoe could easily have been the reason he was uncomfortable enough not run all out. So....there must be a form of boot...that could stay on for sure and be comfortable. Or, give the track conditions, why couldn't he run barefoot? Gail The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw
