We live about 80 miles south of there, and ride near Minocqua in the spring
and fall. There are bears in that area and wolves but I haven't heard of any
trouble with horses. In the spring and early summer there are a lot of
mosquitoes and deer flies, but this depends on the weather. They have some
awesome trails for riding all with in an hour or less. It is also a very large
tourist area, in the summer they have excellent fishing and a lot of
activities going on, the fall colors are beautiful, in the winter the
snowmobiles have trails all over, cross country skiing trails, and there are
many lakes for fishing , water skiing, and swimming. I'm not sure about where
the National Forest is, but if you get near that there is miles and miles of
riding. Years ago we had a cabin a little south of there, so I'm a some what
partial to that area. Hope this gives you some insight to the area.
