This time of year ? STOP trimming those Fjord manes. SHAVE them off. S H A V E. Nadda, no mas. Gone. BALD. To the skin. ROACH. Make a huge pile that looks alot like skunk road kill. Dont just shave the top, but the sides everything. Leave the forelock alone of course. Your Fjord(s) will look like a drowned rat, but just for awhile. Maybe 3-4 weeks. Then, you will see a beautiful, tight, together, thinner and more upright than you could have ever imagined, set of mane hairs in this perfect arch......sigh. Only then can you start tapering both ends, just a little, or cut back the white, just a little. Keep it trimmed and its done. Esp. in our older Fjords or ones with very thick stripes or anyone with a crest, it is the only way to keep it all looking great. Maybe do it again ( ! ) once more by summer and it will become an evaluation / show worthy mane job. Really. Go for it. Than use the sizzors. Lisa ************** Life should be easier.
