Reading about the arena incident about a newly castrated gelding reminded me of one of my horses.... I bought a thoroughbred that never made it to the races. I had him gelded before I brought him home. That first week (he still had his hormones unbeknowest to me) I was feeding him and like lightning he bit me in the loin. Didn't break the skin but it was terrifying and painful and almost sent me into shock because the mouthful included my kidney. After that I was very careful. It never happened again and the horse became one of my best horses, a babysitter for family when they came to. visit but was oh so dangerous while he still had his hormones.
