Hi. I live in WI and have terrible clay. The area near the barn is low and when it rains it is very mucky. Years ago I put about 8 inches of limestone down and this has solved the problem. I would recommend limestone over gravel any day. It packs down and doesn't wander. The horses don't get stones in their feet like gravel would. I had it for about 7 years before I needed to add more.
