Hi Jo:
Actual Tryon property can be expensive, but the immediate surrounding areas
(and many still right on the trail systems) are much more affordable. Places
like Green Creek, Mill Springs, Landrum (SC) and Columbus are still
considered Tryon by residents but without the hefty price tag. Also, nearby
Rutherfordton is even less pricey. I actually live in Columbus but for
whatever reason my neighborhood's address is Tryon. I am on the FETA trail
system still. I grocery shop in Landrum SC (gas is cheaper and no tax on
food items) as it is only ten minutes from my house. There is also an
equestrian neighborhood that has small "cottages" and a central barn for
your babies; you can enjoy the horses in the pastures and the adjoining
trails but aren't responsible for their maintenance!

I looked tryon up, it is expensive. i would love to live there but i feel
real strongly that it is out of our budget. Houses with property were
$700,000 and up. that is not retiree wages. maybe i am not looking in the
correct area??? it was sure gorgeous.

This is a GREAT place to live if you love horses. Lots of young retirees
or
almost retirees who can finally afford the time and money to have horses.
