The Midwest Fjord Horse Club's Breed Show was this last weekend. Got home safe and sound last night. Just HAD to write in and tell you as much as I can remember about it. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!Our show was down in numbers but not in spirit and fun. PLUS an added bonus was meeting so many locals that come to watch our horses, AND.... we had folks that came from TX, WY, SC, & MO that came JUST TO WATCH! The ones from MO had come last year as they were passing thru with their whole family, this year just the parents came. The others heard about our show and came just to see it! How special is that! We had lots of spectators around the ring cheering everyone on. Especially in the games driving classes when one would hit cones you could hear them feeling bad for the driver! Was cute how everyone wants you to make it thru the cones and even more so when you are having troubles. The other real special treat of the show was the weather, it was tailor made for us. We had temps in the low 70's this year. Our horses hardly broke a sweat, can't really say the same for the owners, but we tend to get more nervous I think then the horses. Plus some of us, are running around like a chicken with their head cut off, as we tend to over extent ourselves. :-) You know our fjord horses REALLY do it all. Man, we have so many TALENTED horses in our club. And, not only talented but VERSATILE. WOW, so many do it ALL, ride/drive/jump/showmanship/gymhana. That is always so cool to see. We have such a SUPER breed of horse!!!! Our numbers might have been down this year, but again the spirit of horse/owner was not. It seemed to have just been a perfect storm with individual situations causing members to have to skip this year. It has been a tough year for many, I will say we felt your presence with us, we know you all wanted to be there, and we hope next year you can make it. One of the youth riders who was new this year, her whole family came to watch her including her mom/grandma/aunt. Her aunt asked if our show was always this much fun as they have been to other breeds shows and said those were way too stressful and that our show was filled with laughter, fun, helpfulness and comradery. THANK YOU show committee for working your butts off to make this show ANOTHER very successful show. THANK YOU everyone for SUPPORTING YOUR CLUB by donating money for the show, by coming with horse(s), or by coming to help. This ALL helps to put on a GREAT SHOW!!!!
