If I thought the other breedâs were superior, Iâd have them instead of Fjords. I SAID a Fjord is stronger and will jump farther and harder. That is why I donât recommend them for children. (not to mention their ultra stronger neck) I have said many times that I think the Fjord horse is the best horse there is for a mellow temperament, the best there is for safe daily handlingâwe know that for a fact. Not one has ever behaved meanly toward us in many years of handling many. (Incidentally, we had Arabianâs before Fjords, before that Q-horses, Saddlebredâs, Morgan, etc. Been there done that.) Once we found Fjords we forgot the others, no one could possibly love them more than we do.. but I love children too and I would rather not sell one to a child. Iâm just sharing my personal perspective on what might be a better choice for a childâs horseâan older trained pony. Gosh, itâs nice to know thereâs still some life out there in Fjord Land... Kudoâs to all for championing the dearest and strongest horse on earth.
