The Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry is holding the Educational Forum & Annual
Meeting -- open to all breeds -- at the Hadley Farm Equine Facility at UMass
Amherst on January 18-20, 2014. Although the topics are not exclusively
about driving, We are pleased to feature Andy Marcoux, Robin Groves, and
Bill Broe on the list of speakers. Andy's talks are "Interacting
Communication with Your Horse" and "Teaching the Skill of Standing Still" on
Saturday, January 18th. Robin will address the topic of "Training and
Conditioning Your Horse for Competitive Driving" on Sunday, January 19th.
Robin will join Bill Broe in a "Driving Clinic for Non or Beginner Drivers,"
also on Sunday. Sessions with experts in other fields include "Nutrition and
Health Care for the Senior Horse," "Dealing with Cushings & Other Metabolic
Diseases," and "Alternative Methods for Adjusting Your Horse."

UMass Amherst is located in the heart of the Pioneer Valley. There is a lot
to see in addition to attending the Forum. On Saturday, January 18th,
attendees can go on a bus trip to the quaint town of Stockbridge, MA. Harvey
and Mary Stokes Waller have invited the group to tour their private
collection of horse drawn vehicles. Orleton Farm has been a horse facility
for over 100 years and houses unique coaches, carriages, and sleighs that
have been restored for current use. You don't want to miss this!

The Norman Rockwell Museum is just a few minutes away from Orleton Farm and
will be an optional side trip along with shopping along Main Street. There
will be a pause for a sip of tea at the historic Red Lion Inn before the
group heads back to Northampton for a night on the small town.
