This restriction, with the word "probably" omitted, should be added to the list in the spec at: https://xiph.org/flac/format.html#subset The FLAC Subset section also tends to get lost. It would help if it was promoted to a separate section with the heading "FLAC Subset" (on a par with "Format", "Residual Coding", etc).
