No, it is not possible by default due to obvious security reasons. Just imagine a website, which can install softwares (even harmful ones) to the user's computer without his/her permission. You can do such things with signed ActiveX or Java applet, but this requires the user's prior permission, too (not at downloading your installer, but at installing the ActiveX/applet).
